Day to Day Itinerary

1
Day 1

Meet & Greet in Cape Town

Your Jewel of Africa Safaris tour guide will meet you at Cape Town International Airport on arrival.

The day will be devoted to exploring the City of Cape Town. Stops will include the Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope, Signal Hill and Camps Bay. After time for lunch in Camps Bay, you will make your way to the summit of Table Mountain with the cable car.

Later, check in to The Commodore Hotel and freshen up, before enjoying dinner at one of the excellent restaurants the V&A Waterfront has to offer.

Day 2

Cape Peninsula Tour

Enjoy one of the most scenic drives in the Cape region today, departing for Hout Bay after breakfast.

Your first stop is Hout Bay harbor, where you will embark on a 45-minute boat cruise to Seal Island to view a large fur-seal colony.

From here the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive leads you to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point.

On our way back to Cape Town a visit is also made to Boulders Beach, an ideal vantage point to watch the local colony of endangered African penguins that call this beach their home.

Day 3

Cape Winelands

We leave Cape Town behind and take a 40-minute drive to the Cape Winelands.

The Cape Winelands of the Western Cape are one of the big draw cards to South Africa that manage to effortlessly combine the beauty of ripening vineyards, Cape Dutch manor homes and excellent cuisine (and of course award-winning wine) in valleys surrounded by indigo mountains.

The towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are within easy reach of Cape Town and are some of the oldest towns in the country with a rich history and culture.

We explore these towns are the surrounding wine estates before we make our way back to Cape Town.

Day 4

Cape Town to Kruger

From Cape Town board a direct flight to Hoedspruit, your gateway to Kruger. You will be met by your Jewel of Africa Safaris tour guide who will transfer you to Phelwana Game Lodge.

Check in to your luxury tent or bush villa and enjoy afternoon snacks and drinks before you meet with your ranger for your first safari drive in the Phelwana Private Game Reserve. During this drive, you can expect to see giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and impala to name but a few.

Return to camp after sunset, freshen up and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner under the African night sky.

Day 5

Big 5 Manyeleti Game Drives

We depart early today for a morning game drive in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve.

This 23,000-hectare private game reserve borders directly to the vast Kruger National Park, as well as the famous Sabi Sands and Timbavati Game Reserves. As such, you can be absolutely sure to only experience the best game viewing possible.

We return to the lodge at around 11am for lunch and to relax before our second safari starts at 3pm.

We will be back at camp at around 7pm and you will have the opportunity to freshen up before dinner is served.

Day 6

Panorama Route

After breakfast, depart with your guide on a guided tour of the Panorama Route, a winding road traversing the end of the impressive Drakensberg Mountain Range.

Highlights:

 God’s Window is a beautiful viewpoint on the edge of the mountain range.
 Lisbon Waterfalls and the Berlin Waterfalls are two beautiful falls with an interesting history.
 The Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and the biggest all-green canyon in the world.
 Bourke's Luck Potholes is where two rivers meet and a truly spectacular sight!

We will enjoy lunch in the lovely little tourist town of Graskop and we will return to camp before sunset.

Day 7

Kruger National Park Safari

The day starts early as you depart on safari in the world-famous Kruger National Park. The whole day is devoted to driving inside the Kruger Park with your private guide in your own private air-conditioned closed vehicle.

The world-renowned Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa and is definitely one of the must-visit destinations in South Africa. This is a wildlife sanctuary like no other, offering magical unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa. This is the land of baobabs, fever trees, knob thorns, marula and mopane trees underneath which lurk the Big Five, and more species of mammals and birds than any other African Game Reserve.

Enjoy breakfast and lunch at one of the many stopovers and return to camp as the sun sets over the African bush.

Arriving back at camp, freshen up and enjoy some more of the world famous South African wines while reminiscing about the day’s amazing sightings before dinner is served.

Day 8

Bush walk & Endangered Species Centre

Enjoy an optional morning bush walk before breakfast.

We check out after breakfast and make our way to the nearby endangered species center for a tour of the facility. The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is a unique African wildlife facility focusing on conservation and the sustainability of rare, vulnerable and threatened species.

Afterwards you will be transported back to Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Johannesburg.

Expect a pristine bush experience in one of the world's most beautiful places. This private game reserve borders directly to the vast Kruger National Park, as well as the famous Sabi Sands and Timbavati Game Reserves.

As such, you can be sure to only experience the best game viewing possible. As there are no fences between the national park and the private game reserves, wildlife is able to roam freely. Manyeleti is prime “Big Five” territory, offering good possibilities for viewing the elusive leopard. Other Big Five animals (lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant) are also spotted on a very regular basis. Furthermore, with more than 300 bird species present in the area, Manyeleti makes a great safari destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and bird watchers alike.
