Day to Day Itinerary

1
Day 1

Arrival at MalaMala

 

On arrival in Johannesburg, board a flight to Skukuza Airport or the Mala Mala Airstrip. On arrival, you will be met by your ranger and transferred to MalaMala, in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.

 

Check-in to your luxury room or suite at either MalaMala Main Camp, Sable Camp or Rattray’s Camp, relax and enjoy lunch before heading off on your first afternoon safari drive in the Mala Mala Private Game Reserve. Day turns to dusk as you enjoy sundowner drinks and snacks at a scenic spot along the way. On your way back to camp spotlights are turned on and the search begins for nocturnal wildlife.

Return to your room after sunset and freshen up before a delicious dinner and fine wines are served in the dining room, on the safari deck or around the fire in the boma area.

Day 2

Explore MalaMala

 

Enjoy a full day of exciting safari activities at Mala Mala. Your day itinerary may run as follows:

An early wake-up call by your ranger heralds the dawn. Meet your ranger and safari companions on the safari deck as the sun rises over the bushveld. Hot and cold beverages and a light snack are available. The early morning game drive follows.

Return to camp where a hearty breakfast awaits you in the air- conditioned dining room or on the expansive safari deck. For the more energetic, join the bush walk after breakfast.

A buffet lunch is served though some prefer to sleep through after their later breakfast.

Meet on the expansive safari deck for hot and cold beverages and a light snack before departing on another unforgettable safari, with a sundowner stop along the way.

 

Return to camp allowing time for you to freshen up before meeting your friends and rangers for pre-dinner drinks in the cosy Safari Bar. Enjoy the superb food and excellent wines while sharing stories about the day’s sightings with your fellow travellers.

Day 3

Last Day at MalaMala

 

Enjoy a full day of exciting safari activities at Mala Mala. Your day itinerary may run as follows:

Day 4

Departure to Mozambique

 

After you last morning safari activity, and breakfast, check out and make your way by transfer to Nelspruit Airport. From here you will fly directly to Vilanculos, Mozambique.

 

On arrival you will be welcomed by your Santorini host, and transferred to your luxurious boutique hotel. The main villa is spread around an inviting pool, central dining and outdoor barbecue area. The attention to detail in every space and the personal touch delivered throughout your stay is beyond expectation. From the captivating decor and intriguing design within the villas, to the lush landscaped gardens and outstanding food, there is nothing that has been missed.

On arrival, check in to your luxurious villa, and enjoy something to eat or drink before enjoying the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 5

Explore Santorini

 

After breakfast, you can decide how you want to spend your first day in this beach paradise.

Being on the mainland, our guests have the opportunity to experience everything this magical place has to offer. From spending a day out on the magical waters surrounded by the flamboyance of flamingos to exploring the colourful markets and local shops of Vilanculos town.

Our activities room is geared for almost any pending adventure, for all ages and it’s all complimentary during your stay at Santorini. We have assorted kayaks, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear, fishing gear and even a gym in a bag for a quick workout session or yoga on the sunset patio as the sun rises above the silhouette of Magaruque Island.

Optional activities at an extra cost include spa treatments, scuba diving, boat trips, scenic helicopter flights, deep sea fishing, dhow sailing and horse safaris.

Day 6

Island & Beach Experiences

 

Explore all that Santorini and the surrounding islands have to offer. Or you can choose to spend time at the hotel and enjoy the amenities on offer here.

At mealtimes the local chefs produce this magic variety of tantalizing tastes throughout your stay. With a choice of up to 4 courses per meal, it’s a sensory explosion. Our vegetables and herbs are from the Villa’s own garden and the option of the day’s fresh sea harvest, complement the daily menus.

You’ll notice some special favourites scattered through the pages of our guest book, making mention of the home-made sticky granola at breakfast; the piping hot and oozing chocolate fondant at dinner, homemade ice creams any time of day and not forgetting the wicked Irish coffee after dinner.

Our chef transforms from Joao to ‘Giovanni’ when lighting up the pizza oven for a casual courtyard lunch. A gourmet selection of toppings and thin crunchy pizza bases are ready for you to personalise your own tasty creations. Another highlight amongst our guests, making one feel completely at home.

Those who appreciate wine will enjoy discovering Santorinis’ wine cellar, located off the guest kitchen. While a good range of excellent wines, spirits and malts are included in the daily rate, a selection of premium wines, champagnes and spirits are available for those who wish to spoil themselves further.

Last Day at Santorini

Departure

 

This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Vilanculos Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg Airport where you can connect with your onward journey.

Mozambique

 

Mozambique is a southern African nation whose long Indian Ocean coastline is dotted with popular beaches like Tofo, as well as offshore marine parks. The Bazaruto Archipelago farther south has reefs which protect rare marine life including dugongs. The current capital, Maputo, is known for its diverse architecture, vibrant nightlife and relative proximity to beaches like Ponta do Ouro. Inland, Gorongosa National Park’s forests, wetlands and savannahs shelter wildlife including lions, hippos and zebras. In Niassa National Reserve, near Tanzania, animals including elephants and wildebeest live in the wild.

 

Vilanculos Coastal & Wildlife Sanctuary

 

Spanning 25,000 hectares of both land and water, the Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary is regarded as one of the most biodiverse on the continent. The sanctuary's seven habitats are home to the likes of Burchell’s zebra, giraffe, nyala, eland, and wildebeest and future efforts will see crocodiles, kudus, hippos, and waterbuck joining the sanctuary as well. In the waters you’ll find leatherback sea turtles as well as the continent’s largest population of the rare, endangered dugong. The Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary is a prime example of community upliftment and eco-tourism done right.
