Day to Day Itinerary

1
Day 1

Arrival in Kruger

On arrival in South Africa, board a direct flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport, your gateway to Kruger. On arrival your Jewel of Africa Safaris tour guide will meet you and transfer you to Phelwana Game Lodge.
The lodge offers high quality accommodation, high levels of service and hospitality and excellent cuisine.

 

Here you will be staying in a luxury tent or bush villa for the next 4 nights, each with its own private veranda and pool. The luxury tents also boast views of the nearby Phelwana Dam, with its resident hippo family.

Check in and enjoy lunch before you set off on your first game drive in the park with your ranger. During this drive, you can expect to see giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and impala to name but a few.

On return to camp, freshen up and enjoy dinner under the African night sky.

2
Day 2

Search for the Big 5 in the Manyeleti Game Reserve

We depart early today for a morning game drive in the Big 5 Manyeleti Private Game Reserve.

 

This 23,000-hectare private game reserve borders directly to the vast Kruger National Park, as well as the famous Sabi Sand and Timbavati Game Reserves. As such, you can be absolutely sure to only experience the best game viewing possible, including the Big 5.

We return to your lodge at around 11am to relax and enjoy lunch before our second game drive which starts at 3pm.

We will be back at camp at around 7pm and you will have the opportunity to freshen up before dinner is served.

Day 3

Explore the Panorama Route

We depart after breakfast to explore the breath-taking Panorama Route on a full day private tour.

 

The Panorama route is a beautiful winding road traversing the edge of the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.

Highlights:

God’s Window is a beautiful viewpoint on the edge of the mountain range.
Lisbon Waterfalls and the Berlin Waterfalls are two beautiful falls with an interesting history.
The Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and the biggest all-green canyon in the world.
Bourke's Luck Potholes is where two rivers meet and a truly spectacular sight.

We will enjoy lunch in the lovely little tourist town of Graskop and we will return to the lodge before sunset.

Day 4

Visit the iconic Kruger National Park

The day starts early as you depart on a full day private safari in the world-famous Kruger National Park. The whole day is devoted to driving inside the Park with your private guide in your own private air-conditioned closed vehicle.

 

The world-renowned Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa and is definitely one of the must-visit destinations in South Africa. This is a wildlife sanctuary like no other, offering magical unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa. This is the land of baobabs, fever trees, knob thorns, marula and mopane trees underneath which lurk the Big Five, and more species of mammals and birds than any other African Game Reserve.

Enjoy breakfast and lunch at one of the many stopovers and return to the lodge after sunset.

Day 5

Bush walk and Animal Rehabilitation Tour

Experience the sounds and smells of the bush on foot during an optional morning bush walk.

 

We check out after breakfast and make our way to the nearby endangered species centre for a tour of the facility.

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is a unique African wildlife facility focusing on conservation and the sustainability of rare, vulnerable and threatened species.

Afterwards you will be transported back to Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Johannesburg.

Kruger National Park

The world-renowned Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa and is definitely one of the must-visit destinations in South Africa. This is a wildlife sanctuary like no other, offering magical unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa. This is the land of baobabs, fever trees, knob thorns, marula and mopane trees underneath which lurk the Big Five, and more species of mammals and birds than any other African Game Reserve.

 

Manyeleti Private Game Reserve

Manyeleti Private Game Reserve borders directly to the vast Kruger National Park, as well as the famous Sabi Sands and Timbavati Game Reserves. As such, you can be absolutely sure to only experience the best game viewing possible. As there are no fences between the national park and the private game reserves, all wildlife is able to roam freely.

Manyeleti is prime “Big Five” territory with lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant and leopard being spotted on a very regular basis. Furthermore, with more than 300 bird species present in the area, Manyeleti makes a great safari destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and bird watchers alike.

 

Panorama Route

The magnificent Panorama Route starts in the town of Nelspruit and ends in Hoedspruit and is best known for its cultural heritage and its dramatic landscapes. Highlights along the route include numerous viewpoints and attractions, including God’s Window, the Lisbon and Berlin waterfalls, Blyde River Canyon (the third-largest canyon in the world) and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.
