FIFA World Cup 2010

South Africa is extremely proud to be hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup, especially as it is the first African nation to ever hold this prestigious event on the African continent. South Africa previously hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the Women's World Cup of Golf in 2005 and 2006 and the only street race in the inaugural A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport in June 2006.

But the Football World Cup, the world's biggest sporting event after the Olympic Games - in terms of television audience, bigger than the Olympics - is in a class of its own. The eyes of billions of television viewers, an estimated three million international visitors and the cream of the world's sporting media will be focused on the southern tip of Africa.

Ten Stadiums across nine cities throughout South Africa will host this incredible football extravaganza, with Cape Town’s brand new African Renaissance Stadium holding 68,000 spectators.

The Soccer World Cup will be a seamless expression of the growth of The Country and is a great opportunity for soccer fans to experience our “World in One Country” and enjoy other fascinating activities above and beyond the beautiful game. Visitors will experience South African hospitality at its best.

With so much to offer the football fans between games, Jewel of Africa Safaris will be organising all sorts of exciting tour packages for all to explore and enjoy this country’s colourful diversity.

Start planning now - with the Football World Cup 2010 around the corner, you may feel there is plenty of time before making plans…think again! Masses of people are going to be trying to book a limited number of flights, accommodation, tickets and more.

The date for the Football World Cup 2010 has been set for June 2010, so you can already start making arrangements NOW.
